SHAFTESBURY APPOINTS PATIENCE WHEATCROFT AS A NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Shaftesbury PLC, the specialist West End property investment group, has today
announced the appointment of Patience Wheatcroft as a Non-Executive Director.


Patience Wheatcroft was until recently a senior financial journalist and
national newspaper editor.  She is the former Editor of the Sunday Telegraph and
was Business and City Editor of The Times between 1997 and 2006.   In 1988 she
founded Retail Week, the specialist trade magazine, and edited it until 1994.
Prior to joining The Times, she had worked as a City and business correspondent
on several national newspapers including The Daily Mail, The Sunday Times and
The Daily Telegraph.


Patience Wheatcroft commented,


'As someone who lives in London, loves London and is a long-time and
enthusiastic student of retail, I am a great admirer of the way Shaftesbury is
developing and managing its villages to add to the vibrancy of the Capital.'

Patience Wheatcroft is also a Non-Executive Director of Barclays PLC and
Barclays Bank PLC.


There are no further details that are required to be disclosed in respect of her
appointment under LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
