                           Termination of discussions

On the 21 May 2007, Homeserve plc ('Homeserve') announced that it had approached
Domestic & General Group PLC ('D&G') with a view to entering into discussions
about a potential offer by Homeserve for D&G.

Following a period of negotiation, Homeserve has decided not to pursue an offer
for D&G and has accordingly withdrawn from the process.

For the purposes of Rule 2.8 of The City Code on Takeovers and Mergers,
Homeserve reserves the right to announce or participate in an offer or possible
offer for D&G (or take any other action that would otherwise be prohibited by
Rule 2.8 in relation to D&G) within the next six months with the agreement or
recommendation of the board of D&G, in the event that a third party announces a
possible offer or a firm intention to make an offer for D&G, or in the event
that D&G announces a whitewash proposal or a reverse takeover.
